Biography
Ian Boyd’s practice emphasizes intellectual property and commercial litigation involving trademarks, trade secrets, false advertising and unfair competition. He consistently advises clients on trademark and copyright clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and licensing issues, as well as disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
He assists clients from Fortune 100 companies to startups with their intellectual property and litigation needs in multiple sectors, including but not limited to food and beverage, semiconductor, apparel, biotech, enterprise file sharing, book publishing, venture capital and big data. He has also counseled for hearings before a U.S. Senate Subcommittee and served as outside general counsel to a multi-billion dollar global beverage corporation.
Mr. Boyd is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and serves on INTA’s Brands and Innovation Committee. He previously served on the INTA Presidential Task Force at the request of INTA’s President. Mr. Boyd is a past president of the San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association and has presented on intellectual property and litigation at numerous events, including the Product Liability Advisory Council Annual Meeting and INTA’s Leadership Meeting. Best Lawyers recognizes him in the Best Lawyers in America annual publication for Litigation – Intellectual Property, and for Trademark Law.
Prior to joining Sideman, he was a partner in the law firms of Harvey Siskind LLP and Siskind Boyd LLP.
