Biography
Andre Fontana is an associate in the firm’s Brand Integrity and Innovation Group and Litigation Group. Mr. Fontana has advised businesses and start-ups in the technology, healthcare, energy, telecommunications, food and beverage, consulting, and finance industries. He also has extensive experience conducting internal investigations on behalf of corporations, as well as representing corporations, board members, and executives before government agencies.
Prior to joining Sideman & Bancroft, Mr. Fontana practiced at a large, international law firm as well as boutique litigation firm, representing public companies, private companies, founders, executives, boards of directors, and board committees alike in complex, high-stakes litigation, including trade secret disputes, founder equity disputes, merger disputes, security class actions, and consumer class actions. He has particular experience in civil disputes that also involve parallel proceedings and investigations conducted by law enforcement and regulatory agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mr. Fontana is committed to bettering his community and uplifting those within it. In his pro bono practice, he has overturned on appeal a court order denying a restraining order to a survivor of domestic violence, and has enforced a money judgment for non-English speaking tenants in a housing dispute. Aside from the law, Mr. Fontana volunteers as a coach for the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts (SOTA) mock trial program, teaching trial advocacy to high school students. He also volunteers as a judge for the Bay Area Urban Debate League, an organization that helps high school students from underserved communities sharpen their skills in critical thinking and advocacy.
In his free time, Mr. Fontana enjoys performing and recording music with fellow musicians, backpacking through the coasts and mountains of California, and capturing fun moments with friends and family with his camera.
