Sideman & Bancroft Partner Ellen Leonida will present an insightful CLE session titled ‘Overview of Federal Criminal Practice’ on behalf of the Alameda County Bar Association (ACBA) Criminal Law Section and Court Appointed Attorneys Program (CAAP). This livestream event is designed for criminal defense attorneys who primarily practice in state courts, offering them a critical introduction to federal criminal courts and the implications of state court convictions on federal cases.

With state and federal law enforcement agencies increasingly working together, understanding the distinctions between state and federal prosecutions has never been more important. The presentation will cover essential topics such as federal sentencing schemes, the impacts that state convictions can have if a client is later charged federally, and key factors to watch for when a client faces a federal investigation.

Attendees will gain access to valuable resources to navigate federal criminal proceedings and learn about how state court priors can affect clients if they are charged in federal court.
