The Social Impact Summit
The Summit, which took place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the University of San Francisco, brought together experts and leaders from across human rights, law, policy, and technology to discuss how decentralized and emerging technologies could drive innovation for social impact.
The Social Impact Summit featured notable speakers including Rainey Reitman, Board President of Freedom of the Press Foundation; Marta Belcher, Chair and President of Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web; and George Oates, Co-founder and Executive Director of Flickr Foundation.
Participants explored the future of technology – from artificial intelligence to blockchain to decentralized tools – and delved into how these technologies could create lasting impact, empower communities, and foster collaboration across diverse industries.
Michael Hewitt, associate leader of Sideman & Bancroft’s Blockchain and Digital Assets Group, hosted a break-out session at the summit. Partners Lyndsey Heaton and Amanda Rinkoff co-lead the Group alongside Hewitt. Michael also serves on the advisory board for the Blockchain Law for Social Good Center.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Blockchain Law for Social Good Center and to furthering our mission of empowering leaders in emerging technologies and law.
